A Kansas City startup using technology to try and put a more personal touch back in banking was the big winner in the NXTSTAGE Pilot Competition in Wichita.

Griffin Technologies, which collates customer data and then uses AI to help financial institutions better predict customer needs, was selected for pilot programs at all three of the competition’s founding bank partners — Emprise Bank, Fidelity Bank and Intrust Bank.

As part of the pitch for the competition that NXTSTAGE held virtually Thursday evening, Griffin’s founder and CEO, Donald Hawkins, harkened back to a childhood memory of getting a piece of candy every time he went to the bank with one of his parents.
