Accelerate Venture Partners was one of our recent Wichita Business Journal Innovation Awards honorees, so it's a good time to ask Quinn Robertson about the venture and how it has grown since its 2018 birth. He's my guest in Episode 305 of the BizTalk with Bill Roy podcast.
Robertson, an Arkansan who came to Wichita in the mid-2010s to do similar work at Koch Industries, joined NXTUS in 2019 to lead AVP. There were about 30 angel investor members when AVP started, and while there was some frustrating stagnation during Covid, growth now has 55 members as part of the group that looks across the region for early stage investment opportunities looking to raise capital.
Robertson gets the startups prepared to present to investors, then a monthly "Shark Tank"-style pitch competition decides who the investors will work with.
